Kanchen takes its name from Kangchenjunga, the world’s third-highest mountain, on the border between Nepal and Sikkim. When the first climbers reached the top in 1955, they stopped a few meters short of the summit, keeping a promise to leave it untouched out of respect for the people who hold the mountain sacred. Climbers since have honored that tradition, and their ascents are still regarded as complete.
We see fitness the same way. Progress is not measured by reaching a final peak, whether a target weight or an unbroken streak. It lies in the training itself: the sessions you complete, the strength and endurance you build, and the rest you allow yourself without guilt.
Kanchen is built on that idea. It records your training without grading it or measuring it against a finish line, so you can see your work build over the years and continue at a pace that suits you.
Kanchen is free. If you would like to give something back, we suggest Minds Matter Philadelphia. It pairs high-achieving Philadelphia students from low-income families with volunteer mentors for three years of high school, with tutoring, test preparation, and summer programs along the way. Since 2011, every Minds Matter Philadelphia student has been accepted to a four-year college, most with significant financial aid.
